For one of the most picturesque beaches, visit Saona Island. The trails shaded by palm trees, soft white sand and bright turquoise water make this one of the best beaches. Spend the afternoon soaking in the sun, eating fresh seafood and swimming in the beautiful water.

Whale Watching

The Dominican Republic is unique in the fact that visitors can go whale watching and see humpback whales mating, calving and nursing their young. The humpback whales migrate from the North Atlantic to the warm waters of the Caribbean to mate and give birth.

Three Eyes National Park

Adventure lovers will enjoy a visit to Three Eyes National Park. This park offers a nature break of underground caverns filled with winding staircases that lead to a series of caves. These paths hug three freshwater blue lagoons, which represent the three eyes. There is lush vegetation all around and visitors may even be able to spot petroglyphs.

Dive Insurance

Dive insurance is required on all Diventures trips. We recommen purchasing DAN dive insurance.

Travel insurance is not required but is highly recommended for all Diventures trips. We recommend purchasing DAN trip insurance.

Electricity

There are no adapters required. If you’re visiting from the States, you won’t need to worry about an adapter for your cell phone or computer. The Dominican Republic operates on a 110 V.  

Money

The currency in the Dominican Republic is the Dominican Peso (DOP). However, the US dollar is widely accepted and actually preferred over the peso.

Temperature

Air temperature usually varies between 72º-88ºF. Water temperature is around 82ºF.

Passport

Passport must be valid at least 6 months beyond the dates of your trip.

Language

The official language in the Dominican Republic is Spanish but English and French are also commonly used.

Dress Code

Dressing casual in the Dominican Republic is okay. The country encourages tourists to dress as comfortably as possible for warm weather. 

Water

Water should only be consumed in the Dominican Republic if it is purified or from a bottle that is sealed.
