The Turks and Caicos Islands are a British Overseas Territory located in the eastern Caribbean, southeast of the Bahamas. The islands consist of 40 islands and cays, with only eight of them inhabited. Grand Turk is home to Cockburn Town, the capital of Turks and Caicos. Although Grand Turk is home to the capital, Providenciales is the most populous island.

Conservation Efforts

The Turks and Caicos Islands are working to develop and implement more conservation efforts to protect their stunning natural environment. One organization, the Turks and Caicos Reef Fund, is a nonprofit organization that helps with preserving the marine environment through conservation work, education and installing mooring systems for boats. The Turks and Caicos Reef Fund has also been a leader in monitoring and treating stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD).

Kayak Through the Mangroves in Providenciales

For an eco-focused adventure, head to Mangrove Cay, an area that is almost entirely surrounded by red mangroves. This nature reserve is a haven for marine life and different bird species. While kayaking, visitors may be able to spot juvenile lemon sharks, nurse sharks, small turtles, stingrays, starfish and a variety of juvenile fish. Bird enthusiasts will also enjoy kayaking through this great ecosystem because of the variety of birds that can be found here.

Whale Watch in Grand Turk

Grand Turk is a great destination for humpback whale watching. Every year, humpback whales migrate from the northern Atlantic to the warmer northern Caribbean waters to give birth and to mate. The mothers and calves are frequently spotted, especially during winter months. With chances to see these majestic creatures both above and below water, head to Grand Turk for this wonderful opportunity.

Long Cay in South Caicos

Visitors can head to Long Cay to enjoy crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches. While swimming or snorkeling in the waters, there is a chance to see barracudas, small sharks, turtles, stingrays, eagle rays and more! Long Cay is the perfect peaceful island getaway.

Dive Insurance

Dive insurance is required on all Diventures trips. We recommen purchasing DAN dive insurance.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not required but is highly recommended for all Diventures trips. We recommend purchasing DAN trip insurance.

Currency

The official currency of Turks and Caicos is the U.S. dollar (USD). Credit cards are also widely accepted.

Gratuity

A gratuity of 10-15% is customary, but many leave more when they feel the service was outstanding. If you are disappointed with the service, you should inform the captain of your feelings right away so he may rectify the situation.

Passport

Must be valid 6 months beyond the dates of your trip.

Visa

For visits under 90 days, no visa is required to visit Turks and Caicos.

Health

No vaccinations are required. Dengue and chikungunya are the main risks. There is no vaccination so we highly recommend taking measures to avoid mosquito bites (repellent, long-sleeved t-shirt and long pants). We recommend you check with your physician before departure.
